Many of our families have withdrawn from general community because they feel Whakama/shame, they have been judged and life is difficult.  They are no different to the average person, we all put up protective walls and barriers when life throws difficult and painful things our way.   Therefore, a Christmas meal is a practical and nice way to extend an invitation for them as a family to come and enjoy a meal.

 

This is always held at a venue that makes all people feel comfortable and not threatened in any way.  There is lots of food and the atmosphere is positive, upbeat, fun and loving.  It is easy to host one and you can keep it small and manageable, or for the more adventurous you can invite a wider number.
