About.....

"They are paying for crimes they did not commit......"

Chidren who have suffered a very real loss through no fault of their own and on top of this are treated like criminals themselves.

It's not their fault that Dad or Mum are in or have been in prison.  Yet they're serving time too.  The doors that lock prisoners in also lock their sons and daughters out - in a cold and lonely world.
Angel Tree Family Care looks to provide unconditional loving support to children who have or have had a parent in prison, and their family, through volunteers.

Angel Tree Family Care aims:

  • To reduce the potential first time offending for children of prisoners
  • Increase the resilience of families to cope with the challenges that come with having a loved one in prison

HOW DO WE GO ABOUT THIS?

It is all about stretching out a friendly hand toward the children and their families that are in this position and then building a relationship in the most organic way possible.  Predominantly it begins with the “Angel Tree Christmas Programme” which is an international programme, which has been operational in New Zealand since 1983.  The rest of the model has been piloted successfully in Wellington and is now being developed across the nation.  We are open to working with people who wish to follow the proven model, or have new ideas and ways of doing it that are in line with our core principles.

This model offers child focused programmes as well as adult focused programmes, which all build relationship.
